Program Requirements

Eligibility Requirements

Aircraft dispatchers must meet FAA and employer-mandated eligibility requirements. Minimum FAA requirements are found in Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, under Part 65. The core requirements are listed below.

To be eligible for an aircraft dispatcher certificate, a person must:

• • Be at least 23 years of age. (Note: You may take the knowledge and practical test at 21 years of age.)
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Pass the required FAA knowledge test.
  • Pass the required FAA practical test.
  • Meet prior aviation experience requirements or show evidence of graduation from an approved dispatcher training program.

Many employers require that new dispatchers work in other administrative roles in the flight operations division of the company prior to being promoted to the role of flight dispatcher. You should investigate job boards or inquire with companies that you are interested in working with to determine what, if any, such requirements exist.

Enrollment Requirements

In order to be eligible to enroll in this program, prospective students must:

• • Be at least 21 years of age on the start date of the course.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Fund the entirety of the course cost prior to the payment deadline for the course.
  • Commit to the course schedule and ensure the student can attend all course meetings.
